Elizabeth Swaney

During the winter olympics, Elizabeth Swaney was sneaky. She wanted to compete in the Olympics, not because she wanted to win gold, but because she just wanted to be in the Olympics. Elizabeth Swaney was not the best skier in the United States so it would be harder to qualify. She had an idea.

She knew that there are not many people participating for Hungary in the Olympics. But her mother came from Hungary so she decided to go participate for Hungary in half pipe skiing. She qualified for the Olympics for Hungary, competed in half pipe skiing and came in last. She didn’t care because all she wanted was to compete in Olympics.

I think that this is a little unfair because other people who trained their whole life to get into the olympics probably didn’t get in. But she only had to qualify in a country where not many people are participating in the winter Olympics.

This is kind of sneaky, but smart too because in the United States where she is supposed to participate she would have had less of a chance. I am happy if this has inspired people to believe in themselves.

The Canadian Ten Dollar Bill Controversy

Some people do not want ‘Sir John A. Macdonald’, on the $10 bill.  This is because he said that indigenous Canadians did not have a place in this country.  He is thought to be a racist.  He approved the first residential schools in this country, he did not let indigenous people get food, he would make them move and take the land, finally he would force them to live on reserves.  On top of this, Sir John MacDonald is also thought to be a very heavy drinker.

What do you think?

My book review

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a great book. It was written by C.S Lewis. The genre of the book is adventure. The protagonist is Lucy. She is the first of her four siblings to set foot in Narnia. The characters are Lucy, Edmund, Susan, Peter, Mr. Tumnus, Aslan and the white witch. There are several settings. I liked to imaging them all. One of them is Narnia, a snowy forest on the other side of the wardrobe. The wardrobe, that leads to Narnia, which is full of fur coats. The last setting is the witch’s house.

The beginning

Lucy jumps into a wardrobe walks, and walks, and walks until she ends up in a snowy place. A friendly faun invites her for tea and cookies. The faun starts crying and tells her he kidnapped her and says the white witch will hurt him if he frees her but he frees her anyway. The white witch wanted her because she is a daughter of Eve and she needs two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve.

Middle

Edmund, Lucy ‘s brother, ends up exploring the wardrobe and meeting the white witch and she convinces him that she will make him king and give him all the Turkish delight he wants if he comes to her house with his brother and sisters.

End

After Peter and Susan talk with professor, they decide stop thinking about the wardrobe and walk around the house. They see the cleaner coming and run into the wardrobe. The brothers and sisters followed. They soon go in and find out about the world of Narnia…

The part I liked the most was when Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter figure out about Narnia. I really did not like how they were sexist because at one part Edmund only tells Peter about how he is concerned and he says: “hush, not so loud, there’s no good frightening the girls.” This book was written 67 years ago and they did not know about GIRL POWER then. Still, I really love this book and would give it ten out of ten. You should read it. If you want you can ask your parent to read it to you but I prefer reading it myself.

The end!!

Garbage in the ocean

I do not like the fact that there is garbage in the oceans, Lakes, and a lot of other types of water. On Henderson island there is a lot of garbage.  You sometimes do not know when you litter like if  you put your chocolate bar rapper in the garbage outside and suddenly it blows away or when you drop a plastic bag and it blows away into the road. If you were wondering what you can to help are water here is a list of things, not use plastic water bottles, bring your own bags to the grocery store, if you see some litter in the park maybe you can pick it up.  A boy named Boyan slat was cleaning are oceans with his invention you can check out the website and watch how it works.! Here is the websiteWe read an article about garbage pollution on Henderson Island, one of the most remote islands on earth: Click here to read the article

There is another website about an island called henderson island and it is a huge land file! Because people dropped there water nobles or whatever and it got sailed away into the current. If you want to check out Henderson island website here it is!We read an article about garbage pollution on Henderson Island, one of the most remote islands on earth: Click here to read the article

So remember try not to drop you plastic garbage cause animals will stick there head into the water bottles  and not be able to get there heads out.

BYE BYE!

My favourite restaurant

I was coming from my cousins house not wanting to go to a restaurant but I had to go.  So we decided to go we were walking looking for a restaurant to eat at with my family. I did not want to go to Nando’s until my mom said,” You can have french fries and chocolate milk” then I agreed to go to Nando’s.

The food is it is mostly chicken, fries drinks, and there is frozen yogurt it is bottomless, ext. The food is really good. The food is south african.

Sometimes you have to go to the counter to get things like the frozen yogurt chip. the service is good the food comes quickly.

There is a bit of a side story, the side story  is we thought we would get frozen yogurt so we bought the chip and then a lady  came up to us and said,” Sorry no more frozen yogurt but you can get some other desert but we said no thank you and went home!

Hope you liked it!

What I think about video games or screens.

So, what I think about video games is that they are not the best for your brain. But, not only video games are bad for your brain, it is mostly screens.  So if you are watching YouTube videos or playing on the computer for more than a hour a day, I recommend for you to stop. This maybe is disappointing,  but it is true, I like playing video games too and watching videos.  But too much is bad.  I am only allowed to watch TV on the weekend or sick days and sometimes PA days. Sometimes, I can have some screen times when my sister is in her piano class.

So try to shorten your screen time, if you have more than an hour a day.☺☻
